Yella’ Belly………

March 28, 2011

Poor Anna has a touch of the Jaundice.  No big thing;  Other than the Star Wars light blanket that she has to sleep with for a day or two.

I am told that I too was born with the Jaundice, that Billy Ruben can be quite a bastard.  Anna is a little extra sleepy and her skin is pretty yellow, but her doctor says it will clear up pretty quick. Now for some fun pictures.

We’ll keep you updated on Anna, as for everyone else we are doing great.  Sleep would be nice.  Sarah is a champ, you would never guess she had a baby three days ago just by looking at her.  Alice loves her baby sister like crazy, she is a little aggressive while showing that love, but loves her none the less.  Till’ next time.

Anna Lenora………..

March 26, 2011

Yesterday was a great day.  Enjoy.

9 lbs. 1 oz. 22 inches.

Both daughters born in the snow.  It may be a while before the next post, here is a video to tide you over.

Well, Sarah just took a pregnancy test and it came up positive.  We are totally taken by surprise.  I guess life is full of curveballs.

On a stranger note, that is the actual pregnancy test that told us Baby Sister was on the way.  I had picked Sarah up from work to grab lunch nine months ago, she told me the news, and in true man fashion I needed proof.  That test had been sitting in a box in my car for all this time.  Yuck.  It is now in a garbage bag where it belongs.  This may very well be the last picture of pregnant Sarah ever taken.

Stay tuned, next post should be a doooooooooooooosseeeyyyyy.

Basketballs and Mini Watermelons

March 22, 2011

Tummy looks an awful lot like a basketball this morning. More so than most days. Perhaps it was attending the Creighton-Davidson game last night and the size small T-shirt I managed to squeeze in to. I had to give it a shot and while I got it on, it certainly didn’t want to stay in one place. Thankfully the giant stretchy panel on my maternity jeans kept everything underneath hidden.

The game was a lot of fun, especially since it was a win-win for us, being Davidson fans living in Omaha. We sat behind the Huerter family, who took care of the Todd teeth for many years. Small world. Lots of folks stopped by to ask us if we came in from North Carolina for the game – Further indication that Nebraskans love their sports and treat visitors with respect. One of the write-ups I found this morning focused on how even though the crowd was small, the atmosphere was quite the opposite. Not sure our row contributed a ton, but it was definitely fun to be a part of it.

In weekly food comparisons – baby weighs as much as a mini-watermelon. Why anyone would bother with a mini-watermelon is beyond me. After all, if you’re gonna wish for something, wish for something big!

(Hawkins family: Insert “I wish I had a BIG watermelon” here).

Baby Weight…….

March 21, 2011

This is getting out of hand.  I’ve been trying to “feed the baby out of Sarah”, and in the process I’m pretty sure I have gained a few pounds.  Enough is enough.  Last night we sat on the couch and watched Baby Sister attempt to make a break for it.  It was pretty cool seeing Sarah’s belly moving, an arm here, a foot there.  Official due date is still 7 days away, could be a long 7 days.

Alice seems to have a grasp on the whole Baby Sister idea, at least for now while she is still on the inside.  Surely all hell will break loose when the two of them are sharing a bedroom.  So far we have taught Alice that babies cry all the time and that they poop a lot.  Are we missing anything?

Judging by the amount of noise Sarah makes while sitting still it can’t be much longer.  Keep your phones handy, if labor starts while I am at work someone’s is gonna ring.

Someday Alice is going to hate me for posting these pictures of her.  This whole blog is just ammunition for her future use.  This instant classic demonstrates her lack of patience.  Being in such a hurry to see a picture of herself on the back of the digital camera, she smashed face first into the lens.  Maybe the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree after all.

Headlining today’s pregnancy news. LACK OF SLEEP.  Baby isn’t even here yet and we are exhausted.  Alice wakes up at 4 am every morning, and, as much as we would like to start slipping her Ambien, we would rather just wake up and put on the coffee.  I picked today to be Baby’s Birthday, there is still plenty of time left.
