Potty Training?

April 29, 2010

I guess the cool place to have a snack is in the “john”.  As you all know, when things get a little too quite in the house, it means little people are up to no good.  We hadn’t heard a peep out of Alice since we gave her a cup of Kix Cereal, and this is where we found her.

That is the perfect height, nice flat surface, plenty of nice cool water available to wash down a snack of dry cereal.  All in all we didn’t mind too much, that is until she tried to share her snack with us.

After we declined her invitation for a snack, Alice really wanted to see the pictures we had taken.

That’s all for now.  we have a whole lot of cleaning to do.

Brace Yourself.

April 23, 2010

We just got back from a few days in Arizona, we went to visit the family and to get away from the day-to-day of Omaha.  Here are the greatest hits of the 124 pictures I took while we were there.  Get ready for “photo dump 2010”.

First stop was, Alice’s Great Grandmother, Shirley.  Even though Grandma wasn’t feeling too well she entertained Alice for as long as Alice would let her.

Who knew there were ducks in Arizona?  Well there are, and we fed them.

We stopped and smelled the flowers.

We goofed off in Grandpa Bob’s front yard.

We absolutely trashed Grandpa Bob’s house.  We left no stone unturned.  Just a heads up, there might still be a dirty diaper under the couch.  Sorry.

Sarah and Alice swam.  The weather was perfect the entire time we were there.  A little chilly by Tucson standards but really nice.

The first two mornings we went running in Sabino Canyon, which is conveniently right outside Grandpa Bob’s front door.  It was really a pretty place.  Grandpa and Alice would hang out so that Sarah and I could go running.   On the last day we were in town we all went to Sabino Canyon and went for a long walk.

Alice insisted on pushing the stroller on most of the walk.  If you look closely you can see her tiny fists clenching just below the stollers handles.

All in all it was a great trip.  Getting to see my Grandparents was awesome.  Alice being able to finally meet her Great Grandmother, and to sit on her lap and spend some time was worth more that its weight in gold.

Having family scattered across the country is tough.  I didn’t really realize how much I loved and missed them until I had a family of my own.  Thank you for having us.  We love you.

Sarah, Alice, and Nick.

Sidewalk-1, Alice-0

April 14, 2010

It had to happen sooner or later; Alice had her first wipe out on concrete.  We play on the front porch almost everyday, there are two small steps leading down to the sidewalk, watch out that first step is a doozy!  Alice was perched on the edge and Deacon came flying by knocking Alice off the two little stairs and, well, see for yourself.

That’s right, she landed square on her nose!  Her entire body weight from two stairs up!  And like any good parents Sarah and I were totally paralyzed with fear until the entire falling sequence was complete.  Alice is a pretty tough chick, she cried for a couple of minutes then went right back to tempting fate with her daredevil love of heights.  We are going to have our hands full.

Firewalls and Typing Lessons

April 12, 2010

So the Firewall is back up at work, which means I can’t watch videos of Alice on the blog anymore. It also means I have to type an ‘s’ into the URL window on every page in Facebook. I don’t actually mind because Facebook annoys me anyway. Yet I keep going back…

So, I wanted to add something new and found a picture that Elise took of Alice a couple weeks ago. She posted it on Facebook, so i’ll plop it here so I can look at, too (the photo is actually saved to my computer, but it’s cooler to see it here).

She’s already got good form. No hunt and peck for my girl. She can type without looking at the keys too! Genius!

Happy Monday!

Day 1

April 12, 2010

First day of a new job. At least I think that’s the case. I’m headed into the brokers office to get started. I passed the real estate exam last week and things are moving right along.
Alice is really enjoying her daycare, which is a huge relief to Sarah and I. So the purpose of this post is to let you, our devoted Deacondog readers,  know that I am here for all of your real estate needs!
Enough advertising, I will have new pictures of Alice up ASAP.

April 9, 2010

Alice has changed a huge amount from spending two days in daycare.  There must be some kids there from the wrong side of the tracks, because Alice is going totally “gangsta”  Track suits and Do-Rags.

The video below is Alice putting her sock monkey “Night-Night”.  It starts out a little out of focus but she ends with a dance that is really freaking cute so hang in there till the end.

World Record.

April 5, 2010

I am getting bored trying to set the world record for most loads of laundry done in one day.  So, to kill a little time here is a picture of Alice in her new red dress.  In other news, the Monster starts day care this week!  Dad is actually going to be able to do some adult things during the day!

We have been a little better about carrying the camera with us, so hopefully within the week we will post a barrage of pictures that were not taken in the house.
