Hidden Camera

January 27, 2010

There is absolutely no way, not a snowball’s chance that Uncle Ben would have let me capture this on video.  That is why I had to do it.  I saw an opportunity and I seized it.  Enjoy, the “Belly Button Book”.

Alice had her first high fever over the past couple of days.  It was tough, very little sleep.  She was so hot to the touch, it was awfully scary. She finally woke up this morning cool as a cucumber, big smile.

No Meat, No Cheese, Makes Sarah go Crazy.

January 24, 2010

Sarah has always been a good sport when it comes to my rather unconventional eating habits.  Today I realized she can handle just about anything I throw at her.  No dairy? No meat? No grease? No problem.  Stir fry is always a favorite, humus goes over really well, tonight she ate veggie pizza, no cheese, on whole wheat crust.  Atta’ girl!

Alice was somewhat exempt from the veggie pie.  She had some canned pears and a little corn, then she got wild with some milk art.

Post meal, Alice tried to impress us by reading a book with no pictures in it.

Yep thats right, the book is upside down, we all had a good laugh.

Last but not least, Deacon has been a little on edge since Alice started walking.  She is always driving him crazy.  This video is for you Deacon.  I have proof that you smiled when Alice fell down.

No Car, No Sleep, Make Daddy a Dull Boy.

January 21, 2010

Remember the Shining?  That’s kinda what my house feels like right now.  Except there are fewer rooms and no bar full of imaginary friends.  There is still a foot of crusty, ugly snow on the ground and my car is in the shop.  I know body shops have to be busy after huge snow storms, but is that any excuse for not having any idea when my car will be ready?  So Alice and I are house bound.  We can’t leave.  So I have no reason to wear anything but pajamas all day.  That goes for Alice as well.

That photo was taken at 4 pm yesterday.  Nothing wrong with PJ’s all day and breakfast for dinner. Being sequestered has been great for Deacon and Alice’s relationship.

That is that, we are stuck, spring will come, Mexico isn’t that far away.

The Bird.

January 15, 2010

They grow up so fast don’t they?  I probably deserve it for taking so many pictures.  That flash has to be blinding the poor girl.  She was so mad about it she tried to “flip me the bird”.   OK, Daddy can take a hint, no more taking pictures today.  fortunately I got some great shots before the attempted profane gesture.

This picture is also significant because of the purple stocking cap with ear flaps.  Some kids have a wookie or a teddy bear, Alice won’t go anywhere without this hat.  Good thing its cute.

If you look closely you can see the pacifier on the floor.  When I walked in to get Alice after her nap she was just sitting on the edge of her bed swinging her legs and giggling.

Last one is just a bonus close up.

The Cake

Quite A Party.

January 9, 2010

That was really a fun party!  Quite a bit of work, I think next year Chuck Cheese will get to do all the clean up.  The whole family turned out with the exception of Uncle Ben.  I am mentioning him by name because I want to make him feel bad for missing such a historic event.  That being said it is time to get to everyone’s favorite part.  The pictures!

Before the excitement we tried on her new pink Adidas track suit, plenty of room to grow into it.

Just a cute picture.

Here is Alice getting her very first birthday card from Nana C.  It played music when Alice opened it.  Very entertaining.

Still convinced that cousin Kate is a toy doll Alice attempts to pick her up and carry her across the room.

A mountain of home-made birthday cake.  What you can’t see in this picture is the old bed sheets layed out on the floor all around the high chair.  Good thing Sarah thought of that because as you can imagine that cake didn’t stay on that plate for very long.

The entire city of Omaha came to the party.  It was a huge occasion. I’m sure you will see it on the news and in the papers, these are the only people I could fit into the picture.  I assure you there were thousands more.

Middle of opening gifts and loving all the attention.

If giving gifts is a contest, Nana Sue totally won with this baby doll bed.  Uncle Henry put it together and Alice played with it for the rest of the day.  Nice work putting baby to sleep Alice.  I think she is practicing to be her own babysitter?  I am gonna take a nap.

January 9, 2010

Alice was born just after 1pm.  Today it is party time, food, presents, the whole family is coming over.  We will have the pictures up soon.  I am definitely more excited than Alice is.  A couple of days ago we had a trial run of the “put a huge piece of cake in front of the baby and see what happens thing”  Alice passed the test with flying colors.  She was covered head to toe with cream cheese frosting.  I can’t wait to put up the pictures.  Soon.
